Primary election and Cool Beans

There will be a primary election for the 3rd Ward City Council seat. Two people have filed for this seat so there will be a primary election in August with the two receiving the most votes moving on to the November election.

For the past 8.5 years I have been at hosting "Cool Beans - Coffee with your Councilman" at Caribou North every Thursday from
7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.  You bring the questions, I buy the coffee!

June 2, 2014 Council meeting Recap

This week's council meeting finished at 10:-00 p.m. and covered a lot of ground.

A few of the topics included:

A new apartment complex will be located between Kutzky Park and Civic Center Drive. It will have 90 apartments. 20% will me available as affordable. The will be connections to the trailis along Cascade Creek and many other amenities. The downside of this project is that they received a variance for the number of parking spaces from the Planning and Zoning members.

This means that instead of having 106 parking spaces there will only be 76. I am quite concerned about this trend and believe we are setting ourselves up for future parking problems.

The homeless residences is a project at Gage School. this project which is being built by Center City from Duluth will have apartments for 25 single youths between the ages of 16 and 21 and 30 apartments for families. There was discussion about the project size and location. In the end we relied on both our experiences and available data.

As always, if you have questions or comments on projects in the Third Ward please email me at councilmansnyder@prodigy.net  or call me at 507-358-0869.
